Our Mission
The Tri-County Independent Living Center, Inc. is a private, non-profit organization serving people with disabilities in Cumberland, Cape May and Salem counties, and outlying areas. It is not a place where individuals with disabilities live. Rather, it is an organization where individuals and their families find support, learn about their rights and the programs for them to be included in their communities. It is governed by a board of directors which is comprised predominately of people with disabilities.
The mission of TCILC is to empower individuals and their families to live as independently as possible within our community, taking responsibility for themselves, and sharing this commitment with each other. As an Independent Living Center, we currently provide a broad array of support services, promote barrier-free environments, increase awareness about disability issues, and advocate for the rights of all people with disabilities into the community as active participants; and to ensure that they play a vital role in public policy making. To accomplish this, we provide our consumers with the essential information and support necessary to make informed choices about events affecting their lives.
